How Word Unscrambler builds its tools, writes and reviews its guides, and keeps its content honest, accurate, and independent.

Our editorial principles
Accuracy first
Every tool uses a real, maintained English word list and straightforward, documented logic. We describe what each tool actually does — including its limits — rather than inflating claims.
Plain language
Guides and explanations are written in clear, practical English. We avoid jargon for its own sake and explain technical terms when they are necessary.
Regular review
Editorial content is reviewed periodically for accuracy, clarity, and relevance. Each guide shows its last-reviewed date so you can see how current it is.
Honesty about limits
Our word list is large but not exhaustive, and it is not a substitute for an official game dictionary. We say so openly rather than implying tournament-grade authority.
What this policy covers
This editorial policy explains how Word Unscrambler creates, reviews, and maintains its tools, guides, and explanatory content. It applies to every page on the site — the 15 word and text tools, the 15 standalone guides, the word-list pages, and the supporting articles. It does not change our Privacy Policy or Terms of Service, which govern data and use respectively.
How we build tools
Each tool runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript and a built-in English word list of more than 370,000 words drawn from a public-domain source. No tool sends your input to a server. The logic behind every tool is documented in plain language on its own page — see the Calculation Methodology page for the formulas and rules each tool applies.
How we write and review guides
Guides are written to be genuinely useful: they explain a concept, offer practical strategies, give worked examples, and point to related tools. We review guides periodically for accuracy and clarity, and each guide displays a "last reviewed" date alongside the responsible editorial team. When a guide is updated, the date changes to reflect the most recent review.
Sources and word list
Our dictionary is based on the dwyl/english-words public-domain word list (words_alpha.txt). We deduplicate and filter it to lowercase a-z tokens. It covers the vast majority of common English words but is not an official Scrabble or Words With Friends dictionary. For tournament play, always verify a word against your game’s official word list (NASPA/TWL for Scrabble, the WWF dictionary for Words With Friends).
Advertising and editorial independence
Word Unscrambler is free and supported by Google AdSense advertising. Advertising never influences which tools we build, how they work, or what the guides say. Tools produce the same results regardless of whether ads are displayed, and you can opt out of the advertising script from our Cookie Preferences page.
Corrections and updates
If you spot an error in a tool result, a guide, or any other content, please tell us so we can correct it. Reach the editorial team through our contact page or email support@wordunscrambler.center. We review reports promptly and publish corrections where needed, updating the reviewed date on any changed guide.
Responsible site information
Word Unscrambler is operated by the same independent team behind Utilities Center. Editorial content is maintained by the Word Unscrambler editorial team. We do not attribute guides to individual named authors or reviewers, because the content is a collaborative, ongoing effort rather than the work of a single bylined writer. For any editorial question, contact support@wordunscrambler.center.
